The 918Kiss app, game by game

For years this address was nothing more than three buttons: two iPhone installs and an Android file for 918Kiss. It was by far the most visited page on the old site, with more than 400,000 recorded views. The buttons are gone, and so is the file host behind them. What's here now is a guide to the app itself, built from the screenshots the old site took when it wrote up twelve 918Kiss games, most of them in July 2018.

918Kiss is the app many players in Malaysia still call SCR888. Both names point to the same lobby and the same kind of agent-issued ID.

What the 918Kiss lobby looks like

We don't have a clean shot of the lobby menu, only of the games inside it, but they say a lot. Most of the lobby is five-reel slots, and they come in at least three screen layouts. Golden Lotus, Paydirt and Orient Express share one frame: BALANCE, BET and WIN boxes along the top, Minor, Major and Random Jackpot boxes under them, numbered line tabs down both sides and LINES, BET, AUTOPLAY and SPIN at the bottom. Alice and Nian Nian You Yu move the three jackpots into a strip across the very top, and Feng Shen has a stone frame of its own.

Next to the slots are table games drawn as boards. Belangkai and the Hulu Cock dice table share one design, with the same chip row from 0.5 to 50 and a brass cover that drops over the result. Then come the games that fit no box. Motorbike is a pixel-art race you bet on, Monkey Story Plus is a wheel of characters, and Ocean King is a fishing room where four seats shoot into the same sea. Every screen keeps a BACK button and a menu icon in the top right corner, and that's your way back to the lobby.

How an ID and credit work

There's no register button anywhere in 918Kiss. An agent, or a website with back-office access, creates the username and password and hands them to you. You top up by bank transfer, DuitNow or an e-wallet to an account they name, and they load the same amount as credit onto your ID. That credit stays in 918Kiss. The same agent may also run Mega888 or Joker123, but each app keeps its own balance. To cash out you ask them again; they take the credit off your ID and pay your bank, and nothing inside the app controls how fast that happens.

Screenshot every transfer, start small, and ask for a small withdrawal early, before a balance builds up. Nobody needs your online banking password or a TAC.

Installing 918Kiss

The old page offered three files: an iPhone build for 64-bit devices (iPhone 5s up to iPhone X, iPad Air and iPad mini 2 or later), a 32-bit iPhone build for the iPhone 5 and older, and an Android file. 918Kiss has never been listed in Google Play or the App Store.

On Android that means allowing installs from unknown sources. Recent versions ask for it per app, so the permission belongs to your browser or file manager, and you should switch it off again once the app is in. On iPhone the app installs under an enterprise developer profile that you trust by hand in Settings. Apple revokes those profiles when it finds them used for public distribution, which is why the app suddenly stops opening and needs a fresh install every so often.

We don't host any of these files. Take one only from whoever issued your ID, and if an installer asks for accessibility access or permission to read your SMS, cancel it: those let an app read your screen and your bank's TAC messages. 918Kiss games on this page

The old site gave each of these games a page of its own, most of them a paragraph long and several describing a different game altogether. Each now has a short section here, written from its own screenshots. Two games keep a full page: Mystic Dragon, filed as Dragon, and Monkey Slots.

Alice

The cast comes from the Wonderland story: a girl in a blue dress, a man in a purple top hat, a red-haired queen with a crown and a blue figure with a pipe, next to potion bottles, teacups, cupcakes and a storybook. Fifteen lines run across a 5 x 3 grid, and the bar shows LINE 15 and LINES BET 1 for a total bet of 15. Major, Random and Minor jackpot counters sit in a strip over the logo. The wild is a rainbow WILD tile, and in two of the three spins it joins a row of teapots to pay 9. A clock tile marked FEVER turns up on reel one, which looks like a feature symbol, though no screen shows what it starts. Alice on Play8oy is written up from that app's screens.

Circus

Clowns in green and orange wigs, a monkey, a tiger, a blue elephant, a horse, bowling pins and a striped beach ball fill this cartoon slot, with the Chinese characters for circus under its logo. It plays 20 lines on five reels of three. The balance box is labelled CURRENT BALANCE, and the jackpots are a small Random, Major and Minor table in the top right corner. One screen has the bet at 100; the other two drop it to 20 and pay 92, then 150, with the winning line drawn across the reels. The old page wrote about a Belgian casino group that happens to share the name, which has nothing to do with this game.

Feng Shen

The logo on screen spells it Fong Shen, after the Chinese legend of the investiture of the gods. Stone guardians stand either side of the reels, and five coins above them carry the characters for earth, fire, water, wood and metal. The symbols are a white crane, a phoenix, a blue wolf-like beast, a white-bearded sage, a bagua with a yin-yang, and four hero portraits. Only nine lines play, not the twenty the old page claimed: the bar reads LINES 9 with 10 or 1 bet per line. In one spin a DOUBLE badge flashes beside a WILD. Wins can also go to a gamble screen with four portraits marked x2 to x5 over a shuffling scroll and TAKE and STOP buttons. 3Win8 has its own Fong Shen section.

Golden Lotus

A Chinese garden at dusk sits behind the reels, with willow branches and pagoda roofs, and the reels themselves have a pale scroll background. The symbols are blue and white porcelain vases, a green lion-dog statue, a painted lantern, a lady with a fan, the character for lotus and a white lotus flower, with card ranks from 9 to A filling the gaps. It plays 25 lines. At 0.04 a line the bet is 1.00; at 0.01 it's 0.25, and that spin paid 0.87 across three lines. Minor and Major jackpot boxes flank the logo. The old text described a garden feature and free games that turn white lotuses gold, but neither screenshot shows them, so treat that as unconfirmed.

Nian Nian You Yu

The title is a Lunar New Year wish for plenty every year, and the art follows it: firecrackers, mandarin oranges, steamed buns, dumplings, lanterns, red packets, plum blossom and two lion dance heads under a temple roof, with fireworks behind. It has nine lines, drawn as coloured bars when you change them. Bets of 0.90 and 0.09 appear, and the 0.09 spin paid 0.07 on line 4 for a total win of 0.12. A PROGRESSIVE JACKPOT figure scrolls across above the reels, and a Dollar Ball badge in the corner reads ENABLE. There's a TURBO MODE switch too, and the auto button is misspelt AUTO PALY.

Orient Express

No train anywhere. On 918Kiss this is a Chinese New Year slot with a red dragon tile, red paper-cut fish, bowls of glutinous rice balls, lanterns, longevity peaches, a gong stamped with the character for fortune, red packets stuffed with notes, a money tree in a pot, gold ingots, square-holed coins and a small doll figure. Twenty lines run across five reels. At 0.05 a line the bet is 1.00 and at 0.01 it's 0.20, and the spins we have pay 0.06 and 0.15, each across three lines. Minor, Major and Random Jackpot boxes sit above the reels between two dragons. The old page described a train visiting Paris, which belongs to some other game.

Paydirt

A gold-rush slot: a bearded miner, a masked bandit with a revolver, a donkey with packs, a dog with a nugget in its mouth, crates of dynamite, a pickaxe, lanterns, a gold pan, an ore cart, a mine shack and a big gold nugget. The scatter is a wooden sign reading PAYDIRT, and a banner over the reels says ANY SCATTER WIN TRIGGERS A FEATURE. One screenshot has two signs on the reels, but none shows the feature itself. It plays 25 lines at 0.04 a line (bet 1.00) or 0.01 (bet 0.25), and one spin paid 0.06 over three lines. The frame is the same one Golden Lotus uses, with Minor, Major and Random Jackpot above the reels.

Belangkai

Belangkai is a guessing game with four symbols on a blue table: a fish at the top, a prawn on the left, a sun on the right and a crab at the bottom. A single symbol pays 3.90, and the board has 2.90 and 1.95 boxes between the symbols for wider bets. Chips come in 0.5, 1, 5, 10 and 50, with a table limit of 0.5 to 500. After you tap Result, a hand lowers a brass cover over the board and lifts it again, and the winning symbol appears in the corner and at the top of the HISTORY column. In our round a 0.5 chip on the crab came back as 1.95. The old page called this a live dealer game with hostesses. It's an animated table with nobody at it.

Hulu Cock

Hulu Cock is a dice table in the Hoo Hey How family, not a cockfighting game. The dice carry six pictures: fish, prawn, gourd (the hulu), coin, crab and rooster. The board prints its own pay table. One matching die pays 1:1, two pay 2:1 and three pay 3:1; a pair of two different pictures pays 5:1, a named double 10:1, a named triple 180:1 and any triple 30:1. Chips run from 0.5 to 50 and the table limit is 0.5 to 1000. The brass cover drops over the dice and lifts, the winning squares glow, and a strip at the top keeps the last few throws. The same game also sits on Mega888 and Sky777.

Motorbike

The old page gave Motorbike five reels and 25 lines. It has neither. This is a pixel-art race in the style of an old arcade cabinet: six riders numbered 1 to 6 go round a dirt track, and you bet on pairs of riders. Before each race a NEW ODDS board lists every pairing, from 3 for riders 3 and 6 up to 1000 for riders 2 and 4, next to the LAST 5R RESULTS. Bets go on in steps of 1, 10 or 50 from a coin counter, and a FAST MODE switch shortens the wait. A line along the bottom reads JACKPOT X3 X4 X5 FREE MOTO, and the board also names a Starter, a Finisher and a Sprinter. Mega888's King Derby is the horse version of the same idea.

Monkey Story Plus

There are no reels here. Four characters from the Monkey King stories, each in red, green and yellow, sit in a ring of tiles around a misty mountain, with a gate at the top and a cave behind a waterfall at the bottom. You put chips on the characters or on BANK, TIE and PLAYER, press START, and the Monkey King flies round the ring on his cloud until the lights stop on a winner. The odds board runs from 5 for the red bull demon up to 40 for the yellow Monkey King, and a JACKPOT counter sits on the left. Ocean King

A fishing room, and the title card calls this version Ocean King Ultimate. Four cannon seats face each other, two at the top and two at the bottom, each with its own credit counter and plus and minus buttons for the cannon level; the screenshots show levels of 10 and 50, and an empty seat asks you to insert coins. The sea is a red cave full of clownfish, puffers, squid and turtles, with a merman king holding a trident as the big target and a crab carrying bombs. LOCK, SWITCH and AUTO buttons run down the right side, and one catch sends 200 floating up off a blue fish. Every shot costs credit, whether it hits anything or not.
