Play8oy, fifteen slots under a Spin 4 Rich jackpot sign

Three pink silhouettes dancing above the word PLAY8OY fill the top left corner of the one lobby screenshot the old site kept, and that screen explains the app better than its overview did. The overview promised "the most amazing online casino in Malaysia", then pointed at a Play Now button and a chat box. The screenshots show a slot app with a shared jackpot banner, one control panel used by nearly every game, and fishing rooms in the lobby. Fifteen Play8oy games had a page each on the old site. They are collected here.

What the Play8oy lobby looks like

The screenshot comes from the old install page. A gold SPIN 4 RICH sign runs across the top with a GRAND counter of $6,527.88 under it, printed in dollars even though the balance at the bottom reads MYR. Below that sit seven tabs: HOT, FISH, MULTI, SLOTS, S4R JP, ARCADE and LIVE, with an ALL button on the right.

Ten tiles fill the first of four pages, most of them flagged NEW: Queen, three Ocean King II EX fishing rooms named Rookie, Normal and Club, Hercules, Golden Rooster, Fortune Panda, Ocean King 2, Monkey King and Super Speed. Queen, Hercules and Fortune Panda carry an S4R JP badge, which ties them to the Spin 4 Rich jackpot. The left column holds the logo, a preview of a round animal-wheel table, Android and iOS buttons and a QR code, and an EV Wallet button sits next to the balance. We blurred a prize ticker, the QR code, the username, the balance and two tiles with model art.

The panel under every Play8oy game

The fifteen games below share one frame. Top left, a SCORE figure shows your credit, without an ID. Most games put four jackpot meters beside it, Grand, Major, Minor and Mini, though Aladdin, Amazon Jungle, Dolphin, Fong Shen and God of Wealth leave them out.

The bottom bar reads LINES, PLAY, TOTAL PLAY and WIN, then a green SPIN button with HOLD FOR AUTOSPIN under it. PLAY is the bet per line, set with minus and plus buttons, and TOTAL PLAY is lines times PLAY: 9 lines at 10 make 90, 25 lines at 4 make 100. The games without lines swap the first box for LEVEL or GOLD SYMBOL, and the fruit machine Fire Spin puts a DOUBLE button there instead.

How an ID and credit work on Play8oy

None of these screens has a register button. An agent, or a website with access to the Play8oy back office, creates your username and password. You pay them in ringgit by bank transfer, DuitNow or e-wallet, and they add the same amount as credit to your ID, which then shows up in the SCORE box. Withdrawing runs the other way: you ask, they take the credit off and pay your bank.

The Play8oy balance stays on Play8oy. Credit on 918Kiss, ACE333 or the other apps doesn't move across. Screenshot each transfer, start small and test a small withdrawal early. Nobody needs your online banking password or a TAC. The partner box further down is the only sign-up link on this site.

You must be 18 or older, and online gambling is illegal in Malaysia, so there is nobody to complain to if a top-up goes missing. Read our responsible gaming notes before you send anything.

Installing Play8oy

The old download page had three buttons: iPhone iOS, Android Phone and Windows Computer. The file host behind them no longer exists, and this site doesn't host or link app files.

Play8oy was never in Google Play or the App Store. On Android you have to let your browser or file manager install unknown apps, and that permission is granted per app, so switch it off again afterwards. The iPhone build installed through an enterprise profile that you trusted by hand in Settings. Apple revokes those certificates when it finds them, and the app then stops opening until a new build turns up. The Windows program came from outside any store, so never switch off your antivirus to get it running.

Only take a file from the person who issued your ID. If the app asks for accessibility or SMS permissions, refuse and uninstall it. The install notes for every app run through the same checks.

Play8oy games on this page

Each of these games had its own page on the old site, filled with translated review text that often described other games. The notes below go by the screenshots instead.

African Wildlife

A safari slot with cartoon animals in round frames: a lion, an elephant, a blue rhino, a zebra and a grumpy vulture, with explorer gear such as binoculars, a compass and a pith helmet for the lower pays. Wooden signs on both sides read 50 LINES, and our screens bet 2 a line for 100.

Three or more Bonus symbols, an explorer holding a camera, start the bonus game from anywhere on the reels. The Wild stands in for everything except Bonus. A small JACKPOT table says a bet of 50 or more qualifies for 50% of the jackpot and a bet of 100 or more for all of it.

Aladdin

Purple and gold, with a treasure cave behind the reels. The picture symbols are the young hero in a white turban, a scowling guard in a red one, a flying carpet and a curved sword, while A, K, Q, J and 10 in curly script make up the low pays. It runs 20 lines, numbered down both sides, at 1 a line.

The magic lamp substitutes for all symbols, and three or more of them trigger the free game. At the start of the free games one special expanding symbol is picked at random, the 10 in this screenshot. It then grows to cover three positions on its reel and pays in any position on the lines played. Five heroes pay 1,000.

Alice

A storybook forest with red toadstools, 15 lines and a bet of 6 a line for 90. The characters are Alice herself, a blue caterpillar with a pipe, a hatter in a purple top hat, a red-haired queen and a guard shaped like a spade. A book, a blue potion, a cupcake, a teapot and a teacup fill in the lower pays.

The odds table has an extra row marked ALL: fill the screen with Alice and it pays 5,000, against 1,000 for five on a line. A rainbow WILD lands on the reels, and so does a pocket watch labelled FEVER, probably the feature symbol, though no screen shows what it starts. The 918Kiss version has its own section.

Amazon Jungle

No reels at all. Seven round stone tiles sit in a honeycomb on a carved jungle temple, and each spin fills them with animals: a jaguar, a blue frog, a blue parrot, a monkey, a coiled cobra and a crocodile. The panel still says 9 lines at 2 a line for 18, and wins are drawn as lines through touching tiles. Three frogs in a bent row paid 6.

Two more screens show a bonus in a dark temple chamber, where two stone idols guard a pile of gold and gems. A key stands for Win and a skull for Exit, and one of these rounds shows 450 in the WIN box.

Captain Roger

Open sea behind the reels, 9 lines and a bet of 10 a line for 90. The crew makes up the top of the pay table: a captain in a black tricorn, a hook-handed pirate in red, a woman pirate with a skull bandana, a monkey in a striped shirt and a red parrot. Below them come a cannon, a gold skull coin, crossed pistols, an anchor and a spyglass.

The scatter is a pirate ship in a tall gold frame on the first reel. The captain is the only symbol that pays for a single hit, 2, and five of him pay 5,000. The old page's 50 free spins aren't shown on any screen.

Dolphin

Bright cartoon sea life on five reels of three rows, with 9 lines at 2 a line for 18. The purple dolphin is the top symbol at 1,000 for five, followed by a clownfish, an octopus, a seahorse, a turtle, a pufferfish and a gold fish coin.

The wild is not the dolphin, whatever the old page said. On these screens it is a grinning shark with WILD written under it. A treasure chest marked BONUS is the feature symbol, and two of them land in the first screenshot without starting anything.

Dragons Legend

Red reels between gold dragon pillars, with 243 WAYS written on both sides, so wins count on adjacent reels in any row rather than on lines. The bet box reads LEVEL 30, and at 3 a level the total is 90.

The pay table puts a golden phoenix on top at 1,000 for five, then a guardian lion and a koi at 800, a turtle and red envelopes at 300, and A down to 9 below. A green dragon head and a gold coin stamped 太平通寶 appear on the reels but not in that table, so they are most likely the wild and the scatter. The old page named a Chinese gate as the scatter, which none of our screens shows.

Fire Spin

The old page described a dark fantasy slot with dragons. Our screens show something else: a three by three fruit machine with sevens, BAR, diamonds, bells, watermelons, plums, oranges and cherries, and a large bronze Fire Spin wheel with a red pointer to the right of it. Arrows around the grid mark the lines, and the bet is 10 a line for a total of 80.

Three blue sevens top the line pays at 1,000. A second table called ANYPAY pays for a count of one symbol anywhere on the grid, from four up to a full screen: nine sevens of either colour pay 4,000, nine cherries 400. The DOUBLE button lights up after a win.

Fong Shen

Gods and immortals from the Investiture of the Gods legend on pale stone tiles, with misty mountains behind. The portraits are a white-bearded sage, a woman with a feathered crown, a young warrior and a girl in red. A blue dragon, a fire phoenix, a crane and a small blue beast are the lower pays. It plays 9 lines at 2 a line.

The bagua disc with the yin-yang is the wild. Five element coins, Gold, Wood, Water, Fire and Earth, start the Gods Listen Up bonus when three or more land, and if that bonus pays nothing, the pay table says it is played again. Each symbol also has an All Same prize for a full screen, up to 5,000 for the sage. There is a separate section on Fong Shen for 3Win8.

Fortune Panda

Bamboo on both sides and four rows of reels instead of three, with signs reading 25 LINER. The bet is 4 a line for 100. The panda is the top symbol and pays from two in a row, 1,000 for five. The rest are festive objects, from a jade pendant and a drum to a radish and a paper butterfly.

A gold ingot is the scatter and a jade seal stamped 百搭 is the wild. The free game panel says three scattered ingots start the free games and that more wilds are added each time. Fortune Panda also wears the S4R JP badge on its lobby tile.

Fortune Tree

Red lanterns on either side and ALL WAYS down both edges of the reels. Instead of lines, the first box reads GOLD SYMBOL 128, and with PLAY at 1 the total is 128. Above the reels, besides the usual four meters, sit four more counters named Dragon, Phoenix, Tiger and Horse around a small money tree.

Each animal comes in a gold and a coloured version, and the gold one pays much more: five gold dragons pay 300, five coloured ones 30. A gold monkey pays 88, and A, K, Q, J and a red 8 are the low symbols. A jade coin is the scatter, with a row on the pay table reading Total Bet x 50.

God of Wealth

Two versions of the wealth god share the reels, one in red robes and one in blue, with a boy holding a 喜 sign, a girl in pink, a drum, a jade pendant, firecrackers and a copper coin below them. Nine lines at 10 a line make 90, and wins pay from left to right and from right to left.

There are two wilds. The red 發 tile replaces everything except the scatter, and when two or more land, each one unfolds into three wilds down its reel. The silver 發 substitutes too, but not for the red one or the scatter. A lion dance head is the scatter and can land anywhere: three give 10 free spins, four give 20 and five give 50. ACE333 has its own section on this game.

Golden Rooster

A rooster-themed slot, not a cockfight: the birds are portraits on red and gold, next to jade discs, silver and gold ingots and strings of firecrackers. ALL WAYS runs down both edges, and the bet box reads GOLD SYMBOL 48 at a PLAY of 1.

An ACTIVE SYMBOLS strip at the top shows a rooster, a jade disc, a silver ingot and firecrackers. As in Fortune Tree, every picture comes in a gold and a plain version, so five gold roosters pay 500 and five plain ones 50. The scatter gives 20 free games for five and 15 for four. The game has a full page of its own, written from the ACE333 screens: Golden Rooster.

Great Blue

Pale blue reels that look as if they sit under water, with bubbles on every card symbol, 25 lines and a bet of 4 a line for 100. Sharks, turtles, a yellow angelfish, seahorses and starfish share the reels with A down to 9.

The orca is the wild. It substitutes for everything but the scatter, doubles any win it is part of, and five of them pay 10,000. The table lists each symbol with and without a wild, so five sharks pay 750, or 1,500 with a wild in the line. The scatter is a pink oyster with a pearl, and the pay table mentions up to 33 free spins and a multiplier of up to x15. The same game has sections on the LPE88 and ACE333 pages.

Hercules

Greek temples at sunset behind a parchment-coloured board with 20 LINES signs on each side, played at 5 a line for 100. The old page talked about 100 lines and euro stakes, and none of that is on these screens.

Hercules himself, bearded, with a red headband, pays 5,000 for five and 5 for two. The lion pays 1,000, and the rest is gear and plunder: a cornucopia of meat and fruit, a jewelled belt, a round shield, crossed swords, a bow, a spiked club, a gold coin and a silver coin stamped with Pegasus. The pay table page we have shows no wild or scatter, so the old page's green logo wild stays unconfirmed.
